The Real Modern Warriors

The life of a modern woman can be a battlefield. Whether it is at a board meeting, on a stage, in a courtroom or a busy household – or if you happen to be an MMA boxer like one of these women, it might also mean a battlefield, literally. One after another, trying moments in life often demand us to summon a fighting spirit, the warrior inside us, to take on the challenges we face and win life’s battles. We want to pay respect to all the real modern warriors. Among the many amazing women we’ve met along our journey, we talked to three of them who inspire us with their unique stories and we would like to share their stories with you.

Emma Wang. Stanford-trained tax associate at one of the big law firms in New York who moonlights as a lifestyle influencer.

“Every woman in this day and age is a warrior - fighting against the world and herself for her place in this world, for who she wants to be. To be a woman means burdens. It takes courage and perseverance to still hang on to what we want, regardless.”

Victoria Jancke. Actress, top model, touch rugby player, and MMA boxer.

“I think the real modern warriors are women who are themselves. Powerful women who tell their own authentic stories and support other women.”

Ann Zhang. Movie producer, bilingual host, entrepreneur, and social media influencer with over 7m followers.

“I think a real modern warrior is someone who is resilient and fearless, who has the inner strength to not be afraid of any challenge.”

What drives you in the pursuit of your multiple roles?

Emma: I’m driven by what I like to do. Being a tax lawyer is my craft - it’s a uniquely satisfying position to be, to be challenged intellectually every day at work knowing that I have an expertise that not a lot of people possess and that I am able to advise people based on my knowledge while making a comfortable and stable living out of it. Being a content creator is a passion - to be able to have a creative outlet, to have a voice, to make an impact, and touch somebody’s heart by sharing my experience and letting others know that they are not alone. I also find a lot of power in other women, knowing that they’ve been to where I am or where I want to go. If I can do the same for others, it’s my greatest honor and source of motivation.

Victoria: I grew up with my grandparents and my nana told me to always believe in myself and that I can initiate anything I want in the world. She also told me how important family is and how important it is to help people in need. I want to be a successful actress and model in the U.S. because I am German and English is not my first language - if I can make it here, this can motivate so many other women to do anything they want to, too. I also tell my unique stories about the traumatic experiences I had and how I overcame them. I hope this will help other women to see that everything is possible and that sometimes things happen just to make us stronger.

Ann: I am driven by a desire to explore my own potential. My endeavors as a movie producer, content creator, host, and entrepreneur are different channels for me to connect with like-minded people. I think it is crucial to get out there, stay relevant and grow with the rest of the world, and I also want to make sure that my creations are worth the time of me and my audience.

Where do you find your power?

Emma: I find power in knowing that I am good at what I do and knowing that I can become good at what I want to do if I set my mind to do it. I find power in having skills and capabilities that nobody can take away from me, and that even if I lost everything I have, I would have the ability to start from scratch and get them back. I find power in knowing that I bring unique values and perspectives to this world and that I have a voice that people are interested in listening to. I find power in empathy and togetherness, knowing that whatever I go through in this world, many others have been there too.

Victoria: I find my power within myself. When I feel powerless, I talk to the little Victoria inside of me (I call her Vicky), and I give her all the love and power she needs. I also get my power from my dog, my friends, traveling, and eating the food I love

Ann: I’ve met a lot of amazing friends along the way, and I’ve learned a lot from them. But more importantly, I love doing what I do. I enjoy creating fun content that resonates and brings joy to others. It gives me satisfaction and strength to know that I helped lift a little bit of weight off someone’s life by connecting with them in a light-hearted way.

Your favorite bag from OLEADA?

Emma: Wavia is the bag I take to work almost every single day because it’s so practical and goes with everything in my work closet. It’s by far my favorite OLEADA bag and it’s a head-turner at work. I particularly love that it can turn into a backpack - it makes the commute so much easier if you live in a big city like me. I like that it’s the perfect size, large enough to fit my laptop and more, but not too large that it feels clumsy. I like its aesthetics - a perfect balance between professional and effortless, and the gold buckle and wave pattern make it unique.

Victoria: I love the Echo Bag because it fits everything that I need. It fits my wallet, my ID, my phone, and my lipstick. Not too big, not too small. You can wear it with a dress or a suit, and it will just look elegant; or if you style it with jeans, it will look classy and sporty at the same time.

Ann: My favorite bag is the Reverie Hobo because it’s so versatile and very modern, perfect for work or a casual day out. The Reverie Hobo fits everything if I’m carrying a lot around, and the Mini Reverie Hobo looks gentle and feminine. And I love it when the bags are so light!

What do you want to say to the other modern warriors out there?

Emma: Be fearless. We women are taught to be almost thoughtful to a fault, so much that it’s easy to forget the fierceness in us. But our fear is usually larger than what is at stake to be feared, and we exaggerate it because we are taught to be more thoughtful, more critical or ourselves, and more risk-averse than men - we don’t have to be if we don’t want to, and a fearless capable woman is invincible.

Victoria: I want you to be yourself. I want you to tell your authentic story and to go your authentic way. Get inspired by others but go your way because there is no other person out there like you, and it is beautiful and wonderful. Please love this special person and follow your dreams. Be the warrior you are born to be.

Ann: Be brave and be free. The fear of loss is more detrimental than the loss itself. You are stronger and bigger than anything you might lose, so don't let that fear stop you. Whether it is in life, career, or relationships: dare to be yourself, choose for yourself, and bloom despite adversity.
