WE ARE 100% FROM THE OCEAN

Our name “OLEADA” is derived from the Spanish word for “ocean waves”. Deeply embedded in our identity, the ocean has given us numerous inspirations with a special place in our hearts. As a brand committed to sustainability, we are dedicated to doing our part to save the ocean from human pollution.

Introducing our HowBottle limited collection

In partnership with B-Corp HowBottle, we are proud to announce the launch of our “From the Ocean, For Plastic-free Oceans” campaign – a limited collection of sustainable bags that are exclusively made of recycled materials from the ocean to raise awareness and foster positive change in ocean preservation.

HowBottle is a sustainable lifestyle brand that is born to solve the problem of plastic pollution. By designing, producing, and selling sustainable products made from recycled, single-use plastics, HowBottle is dedicated to inspiring more and more consumers to buy environmentally friendly and better.

Did you know there is a ghost haunting our beloved ocean?

Abandoned fishing nets, a.k.a. “ghost gear”, accounts for 10% of the plastic waste in our oceans with 640,000 tonnes entering the ocean each year.

Ghost gear is a hazard to ship navigation and safety at sea and a great danger to marine life. In one incident in 2018, 300 sea turtles were found entangled and killed by one single fishing net in Mexican water. * Such tragedy breaks our hearts. *Greenpeace Germany, (Nov 2019). How do we turn fishing nets into handbags?

As what we do for our Conscious Commitment, one key part of our conscious practice is transforming what would have been harmful wastes to the environment into new materials to use on our bags. Through elaborate processes, abandoned fishing nets from the ocean were recycled and made into a water-resistant canvas-like nylon fabric.
